Ancillary Texts

The News:

Last year our media class began to start a local news programme and also a radio script for a news programme. To start our news programme the class had to do research on different news programmes such as; "ITV News At Ten", "BBC News", and the "Channel Four News". While researching the different news programmes I found out that colour and images where very important in the news title sequence. Depending on the time that the news was being shown the presentation would be different, for example; in the morning news the colours of the title sequence would be bright to signify that it is a morning news.

The Radio:

For my radio script I worked on my own, I used a small tape recorder to record what I was going to say in my script. After recording the script on the tape recorder I had to transfer the recording onto the apple mac and put different sound effects using the software "Sound Track Pro". This software enabled me to input different sounds and music to make the soundtrack for my radio news add. Although I managed to upload my work on the apple mac and complete the work, I encountered quiet a few problems which made me loose the work, this happened because the apple mac I was using crashed and I was not able to save my work. The final production of my radio add was unsuccessful because of the inconvenience I had while editing my work.

The opening sequence (Flash)

For the news programme, I began to create a storyboard starting with the title and how it was going to be displayed. The name of my Local news was called "The East End Local News", I gave it this particular name because my news report was going to be based around specific areas around east end. When it came to getting pictures for the title sequence of the news programme I was not allowed to copy pictures of buses and buildings from the Internet simply because it was seen as copy right, so I had to go and take my own pictures of tower bridge and buses that I wanted in my news programme title sequence.
